1)Your most favorite fiction book?

That’s a tough one. I have a lot of favorites. I love “The Book Thief“, “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “The Godfather” best.

2) What one thing you miss about being a kid?

Having my whole life ahead of me and being able to afford to make mistakes.

3) If you were an ice cream cone how many scoops and flavors would you be and why?

I would be a triple-scoop, licorice ice cream cone. Being responsible for turning people’s lips, tongue and teeth black would be cool.

4) What was one of your first moneymaking jobs (other than babysitting or newspaper delivery)?

My first “real” job was at McDonald’s. My most memorable (and dangerous!)career move was becoming a process server in Denver at age 20. I was chased through Den-Col steelyard by an infuriated, large, Black man who wanted to do me bodily harm.

This is where it all happened in 1980!

  1. Cee Neuner says:

Sounds like you had an interesting time in Denver!! I lived there from 1981 until 2005. Great answers as always!!!

  2. Elyse says:

The Book Thief was wonderful, as was to Kill a Mockingbird. I just got A Tree Grows In Brooklyn for Christmas — I haven’t read it in 40 years and I can’t wait.

Happy Holidays, Susan. May 2013 be a wonderful year for you.

  3. I absolutely love The Book Thief! Of course, To Kill a Mockingbird can’t be bypassed. I haven’t read the Godfather, only saw some of the first movies.

  4. restlessjo says:

I thought The Book Thief brilliant, Susan. Can’t remember much about To Kill a Mocking Bird so must be time for a re-read. Merry Christmas to you and I hope your 2013 dazzles!

  5. I would not want to be a process server anyway, but especially a city like Denver. However, if you’re writing a murder mystery, it might be good research!

Go ahead. I don't bite very hard.
